Instincts

Saturday morning, we had to weigh chickens with Wyatt.  It is a two person job at the least.  Bailey and Shadow came out to see how little Shadow would do around the birds.  She loves the action!
One of the Delawares jumped out of the bucket for weighing and I ran after her since Wyatt's hands were full.  Shadow jumped in and tried to catch the chicken- no Shadow!  But later, when Charlie held one for her to sniff and get used to, she kissed it.  No trust on this yet, as her instincts need to be trained, but she is the right age for training and she seems to love and value her home here.  She looks so cute with her ears up!
This morning (Sunday) she went out with me to water before Wyatt got up to feed.  When I said no to her running after Abby the Wyandotte and Jalympics the Rhode Island Red, she grabbed a stick and carried it around with her.  I hope that is is sign of things to come.  Wyatt took her out a little later and they fed the chickens together.  I think they are all beginning to learn to live together.  Now, if only Vegas would quit giving her the cold shoulder!
