Exciting News To Share!!!

Okay, to begin with, your daily dose of Erin's Arizona Monsoon Sunset photos!

There was a perfect shot right before the sun slipped below the horizon, but I couldn't find a spot to pull over and take pictures, so I missed it!

I got these two a block up the road from our place.  Fewer trees there, so great photos.

So, why would I follow those with a photo of a jam packed corner of the tack shed? Because that's the BIG NEWS!!!!! Those bags mark our transition to a new feed, now that it is available here in Tucson. What is it? Why did we change our feed?
This is organic, soy free, and completely non-GMO. Our ability to get soy free was very spotty at best, but now we are guaranteed to have all the elements we really wanted in our eggs and flock. This will also be reflected in our meat flock, etc.  Yes, this requires higher egg prices, but if you are coming to a small farmer for the different life the chickens lead, and the better feed, then the feed should be the best it can be, not meeting the mark only half way. The birds should be heritage quality, not genetically engineered. But that has been my take for some time, and most of you know that!

On another note, between last night and midday today, we got about 1-2 tenths of an inch of rain. That sounds like nothing, I know, but the rain barrels have enough water to sustain the garden for at least three days, and the plants that aren't under the porch roof don't need any water tonight!

By the way, anybody need a seedling Palo Verde? Those are way too close to the house, and multiple members of our family are allergic to Palo Verde trees!

I guess you know the rain gauge has been doing its job in the Arizona sun when you can only barely read the graduated markings!

Well, on that note, lots more to do before bed!
