"Helper"

I was at it again at the end of the garden last night, trying to put up the chicken wire to finish enclosing it.  Shadow was in the garden with me, playing in the weeds.
She decided she should help me, so she laid on the chicken wire I was trying to put up.  Thanks, Shadow, what would I ever do if the chores got easier?  Goofball.  Well, I did get a tiny bit closer, hope to finish that piece today and start on the vertical pieces at the far end.  One day at a time!

New Toy

Shadow has stolen one stuffed animal after another this week.  FInally, Bailey gave in and gave her one.
This is silly Shadow with a stuffed vegetable!  But it is watching her...

Look don't touch

You may look, but don't touch my babies!
I went to refill her baby waterer last night.  Often, the phoenix mamas are so protective, that they gather their babies under them as soon as I get near.  But this one is growing more tolerant of me in her years here, and lets me look, though she has a lot to say..  Going to be fun to see what these babies become!

Little Bunny Froo-froo

I have been watching these random pads on one of the spineless prickly pears. I couldn't resist.  I see little bunny froo-froo from the song when we were little.  What do you see?

The other side of the fence

I always heard the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.  So, how does that apply tot he ripening of fruit on a plant?
I stopped outside our front gate to take this photo.  The closer cactus, the one with the green fruit, is outside of the fence.  It gets a little less shade, and about the same amount of water.  All of its fruit are green, whereas the cactus on the inside of the fence has all of its fruit is ripening stages from almost ripe to completely ripe.
The one outside the fence began as a start from the one inside the fence, but has pointy shaped pads as though it is a different type of prickly pear.  Hmmmm... think thee might be some missing information as to why, but is the fruit greener on the other side of the fence?  I love pondering this stuff with the kids, because it leads to so many possibilities.  Wyatt usually figured the light and water, Bailey starts thinking genus and species and crosses.  What do you think?

Another little roo...

And I thought we only had one roo this year.  After Hopper Spark fell ill, the cats were hard on the babies, and even got Golden Boy.  It made for a tough Spring, and for all of the use of humane traps, we got nowhere.
Wyatt tried to tell me there was another young roo, a cockerel he thought would be golden in color.  Then yesterday, I was working in the doe pen with Bailey, and got a goof look at the one who had been hatched in the doe barn and raised by one of last year's little hens.  The last I had looked, the little one was pure black and moving quickly.  Well, looks like now she is a he, and we have twocockerels from this year's hatch!  Now to see for sure about color and conformation!

This Week's Special

This week's special- Blue Vanilla Guest Soaps!
I have three bags available, two have a slightly larger smiley face soap with over twenty little hearts, and the the third has a few larger stars with several little footballs.

This is a Glycerin base, tinted blue and scented with Vanilla essential oil.  Perfect for the guest bath, and great for gifts.  Also appropriate for children's bath time, though young children should be supervised as little good smelling soap can find there way into inappropriate places!

See the smiley face above?

These are the footballs.

Only three bags available.  $6 each, or all three for $15.
